Sullivan Hill was founded by J.J. Gilmartin, who lives at the top of Sullivan Street, so he could pursue three passions: variety, continuous learning, and helping clients solve interesting problems.

During his 20+ year career J.J. has been a copywriter, creative director, product owner, market researcher, account executive, and education strategist. In a world of increasing specialization, he's a generalist with a unique perspective and hard-to-find skills.

  • He has been a creative and strategic partner for some of the world's most iconic brands -- Campbell's Soup, New Balance, 7Up, Fidelity Investments, and Verizon, to name a few -- as well as category leaders such as EF Education First, Eduventures, and Mass General Hospital. He has also worked with startups offering everything from real estate to software to funny little dog collars with gyroscopes inside.

  • He has succeeded at external and internal agencies, and appreciates the plusses and minuses of each.

  • He believes collaboration is always better than isolation.

  • He believes a good question is more useful than a good answer.

  • His writing has been published in Christian Science Monitor, New York Post, an in-flight magazine, some ski magazines, and on NBCOlympics.com (he covered the Athens and Torino games).

  • He's allergic to cats and guinea pigs, a source of great disappointment to his pet-craving wife and son.
